Black Friday may have the historical clout, but in recent years supersized online retailer Amazon has made its very own sale event into a holiday unto itself. Started in 2015 as part of Amazon's 20th anniversary celebrations, Prime Day has transformed into an annual 2-day event for dedicated online shoppers. While it typically takes place during the summer, this year the COVID-19 pandemic led the sale to be postponed. Instead, Amazon has announced that this year Prime Day 2020 will take place from October 13 through 14, with the savings kicking off at midnight on the 13th.
